MY MOTHER OAK at 15th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival 2013
Date: 2013-01-08
"My Mother Oak" by Mahmoud Rahmani will participate at 15th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival 2013, Greece.

The 15th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival - Images of the 21st Century will take place from March 15 to March 24 2013, celebrating for a 15th consecutive year the restless, ceaselessly transformative and vigilant art of the documentary. The Festival's goal is to present the social, historical, political and, above all, human realities of the new century, that become the grounds for adventurous cinematic journeys. "My Mother Oak" will screen at the HABITAT section. It will compete for an Audience award. Thessaloniki does not hold a competition section.

As Greece's major international event dedicated to Documentary Film and Video, the Festival will be well attended by a number of invited guests including directors, press and media personalities as well as distributors and television buyers from several countries.

This documentary is about: When the Karun-3 dam in Southwest Iran was put into operation, more than 12,300 acres of forest disappeared under the waves. Like the others, Assad has lost his house because the village was flooded when a dam was built nearby. Charcoal is now the only thing that the villagers can provide for their families. But Assad can hear the silent screams of the trees where the axe is due to fall.
